I love tea. Since I had to give up my coffee addiction years ago because it wreaked havoc with my gut, tea has become my new hot beverage of choice and I love it. Black or green tea can give me a boost in the morning, and when I’m feeling sick, I turn to tea as well. I was really curious when I found out about Skinny Teatox, because it combines my love for tea, and my need for detoxification (remember how I was complaining about detoxing through my face? I’m still learning to work with my gut!). I decided to do a 14 Day Skinny Teatox review and let you know how it went!
The 14 Day Skinny Teatox consists of a morning tea (loose leaf) and evening tea (teabags).I received an adorable strawberry tea filter to use with my morning tea. The morning tea is designed to increase metabolism and help burn more fat during the day. The evening tea is a cleansing tea to help detoxify your body. There are lots of positive reviews on the Skinny Teatox site about how it helped people with weight loss, so I was feeling excited about the possibility of maybe starting to kick those last 10 pounds I have been struggling with perpetually.
All the ingredients in Skinny Teatox are 100% natural with no chemicals or preservatives. Gluten free. GMO free. Nut free.
The morning tea is a loose leaf tea, so I used the silicone strawberry tea filter with it – which is seriously cute. The tea blend has pretty big pieces, so I found that this tea filter worked well for it, but I probably wouldn’t use this filter with tea that has really small particles because the holes are relatively large. When I was bringing it to work, I used a travel tea glass with built-in infuser. After drinking the morning tea, I felt pretty good energy-wise, didn’t really notice anything gut-wise.
The evening tea is in teabags, and you drink it every second day on the 14 Day Skinny Teatox. It does state that it is meant to cleanse your system, so you should be aware that it will prompt you to go to the bathroom somewhere between 3-12 hours after you drink it, depending on your metabolism. I tried to drink it around dinnertime or shortly after so that I’d have time to go to the bathroom before bed if needed! Sometimes I did, and sometimes it wasn’t until the next day. I found it to be pretty mild in comparison to some other cleanses I’ve done where you really need to be near a toilet constantly! This made me go – but not excessively!
Both teas had a nice flavour to them. I like a bit of honey with my tea so I did add some, but I liked the taste of the teas overall.
Now, before I talk about my results, there is a caveat. I was not eating very well in the 2 weeks that I did this. There was some major stress at work and I was emotionally eating chocolate like nobody’s business (fair-trade organic Camino chocolate, okay??) so I was half-expecting to gain 5 pounds, or at the very least make the detox pretty much moot. I was down 1.5 lbs after the 14 days. It could be negligible since I can vary that much between morning and night, but I made sure to do my pre/post weighing at the same time of day. All-in-all, I was pretty impressed that I actually went down at all considering the chocolate I ate during that 14 day period.
So is the 14 Day Skinny Teatox worth it? I think so! Next time I want to try it when I’m eating a more normal diet (sans chocolate every day) and I’m sure the results would be even better. I think it’s a pretty great product – and a good way to do a gentle detox without wreaking havoc too much on your body.
Have you ever tried a tea detox?
