Some people eat 3 solid meals a day and don’t snack much the rest of the day. I am NOT one of those people. I am totally a compulsive snacker. And nobody loves having a little treat more than me. But trying to set a good example for my daughter and trying to have a more positive relationship with food is important. So for today’s #FiveonFriday I am sharing 5 healthier treats that I still have as guilty pleasures – but they are better than the alternatives!

1 – Angie’s Boom Chicka Pop popcorn

This is available at Costco in the big bags, and it’s what I will sneak in reusable snack bags to the movie theatre with my daughter. What’s important to me is that it is non-GMO corn, which is hard to find for corn products. AND it definitely doesn’t have any of the nasty preservatives and chemicals in microwave popcorn. If you like the sweet and salty – the purple bag of Sweet & Salty Kettle Corn is also DELICIOUS.

2 – Non-GMO Cheese Puffs

I used to looooove Cheetos. Thankfully there are options now without the orange artificial colouring and with non-GMO and sometimes organic corn. Barbara’s cheese puffs or Neal Brothers Organic Cheese Puffs are highly sought after by me and my daughter! Yummmm!

3 – Late July Multigrain Chips

There are several flavours of Late July chips, many of which are great for gluten-free and vegan diets! In Edmonton I get them from The Organic Box, Planet Organic, or sometimes Winners/Homesense.

4 – Camino Chocolate

Fair Trade Organic chocolate in biodegradable packaging – be still my heart! Even my daughter recognizes the packaging and says “Camino is Mommy’s favourite”. (I’ve trained her well.) In Edmonton I’ve seen it at Superstore, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Planet Organic.

5 – Prana Kilimanjaro Trail Mix

I go through phases with this trail mix (that has dark chocolate chunks in it) – because when I open a bag, I usually have trouble stopping… so I can only buy it every so often. It’s the perfect balance for a trail mix, in my opinion, and awesome quality ingredients. I see it often at Costco!
