Spring is here, spring is here! With the abnormally warm temperatures in Edmonton right now (hello climate change), I am itching to plant stuff in the garden! But, in order to do that, I need some good quality compost!
For the past 2 years, I have been getting compost from the compost fundraiser in Edmonton for Zoe’s Animal Rescue Society, and have seen beautiful results for our veggies. I’m definitely going to get more this year, and so should you if you’re in the Edmonton area!
Zoe’s Animal Rescue Society is a local non-profit, run by volunteers, that rescues animals in need – strays or abandoned animals, or animals that have been surrendered to the organization. They have a huge group of volunteers and foster families that foster animals until they are adopted.
Being allergic to furry animals means that I can’t adopt any of the sweet pets they have, but I’m happy I can support them through the compost fundraiser! AND I’ve seen a huge difference in how my garden grows with the compost vs without. It’s good stuff!
You can pre-order your compost now through May 1, 2016 by sending an email to ZoesCompost@gmail.com. They sell 40lb bags (1 bag is $10, 3 bags are $25, 5 bags are $40). The pick up date is Saturday, May 14, 9am – 3pm at the North Glenora Community League (13535 109A Ave NW, Edmonton AB).
