Tega Organic Tea REVIEW

Tega Organic Tea review juicygreenmom

Since I can’t drink coffee (it makes my stomach explode), I’ve become an avid tea drinker. And sometimes there’s nothing better than curling up at the end of the night with a cup of tea and honey. However, not all tea is created equal. Just like other food, ingredients matter. So when I discovered Tega Organic Tea, I was pretty excited to try it out!

Tega Organic Tea strives to provide unique, healthy, and ethical tea experiences. Their teas are certified Fair Trade by Fairtrade Canada, certified organic (Canada Organic and USDA Organic), certified Kosher, and working towards NON-GMO certified.

I was really excited to find out that the teabags used for Tega Teas are made from 100% manilla hemp – no hidden BPA that is in many teabags out there!!

The only thing that raised a red flag for me in the ingredients lists of the teas I tried is some of them state “natural flavours”. This can sometimes be a code word to encompass all kinds of things, so I always want to dig a little more to find out what it really means. Thankfully Tega is not using it to hide anything. This is from the FAQs on their website:

Through extensive product development and research, we have tried many variations of every ingredient you see in our blends. Each ingredient is carefully selected for a specific purpose in the blend. In our research we have found that Organic Flavours are lacking in taste and produce a very underwhelming experience for the consumer. There is little difference between Organic and Natural flavours, as Natural flavours are just essential oils which have been distilled in a lab. We understand that this terminology can be confusing but we stand behind our organic tea blends and believe that making this decision has allowed us to deliver a superior product for all of our customers.

So how do they taste? Overall I found them to be quite comparable to other organic teas I’ve tried – good flavour, not too strong and not too weak, and tastes that complemented each other well. These are the ones I tried:

Pure Green Rooibos: Rooibos teas are known for having lots of health benefits, and I love the flavour of them as well. I’d have to say this was one of my favourites – it tastes awesome!

Wild Berry Green Rooibos: The berry flavour in this tea isn’t overpowering, which I really liked – it is well balanced by the green rooibos and quite delicious.

Orange Spice Rooibos: I don’t tend to like orange teas normally, but this one had a great flavour! Probably the rooibos that added to the taste.

Masala Chai Rooibos: Chai tea lattes with coconut milk are one of my guilty pleasures at Starbucks. This chai was a bit milder but still had great flavour, and the rooibos infusion was a really nice addition.

Breakfast Tea Signature Blend: I LOVE breakfast teas, and this one was delicious. A little hint of honey was all it needed to make me feel very satisfied!

Chamomile Citrus Blend: Straight chamomile is something I have often, and this one had a nice hint of citrus that I really liked. No need to add a lemon wedge to this tea – the citrus is built in!

These are just 6 of the many varieties available from Tega Organic Tea! So many to choose from – organic, fair trade, and delicious – you can’t go wrong!
