I was thrilled when I found out that Cher from EcoBravo was starting up an online store called Underables for ethical intimates, sleepwear and loungewear. I’ve found some nice options for sustainable fashion, but ethical and sustainable underwear was definitely something I had not come across. I was so excited to get some underwear and pajamas for my daughter and me to try out!
Skylar Luna Lace Print Short Sleeve Pajamas
These PJs are made from 100% Turkish organic cotton and come in a reusable linen pouch. This print is absolutely gorgeous, even more beautiful in person than in the photos. Kids sleepwear typically have flame retardants in them, so I have tried my best to get organic cotton PJs for my daughter wherever possible (previously I have gotten Kirkland ones from Costco, as well as various other brands from steals and bargain sites). These are the softest ones I’ve come across out of all the brands we’ve tried – sooooo comfy. They are definitely now my daughter’s favourites that she wants to wear all the time. I got her a 5T which fits pretty well with still a bit of room to grow (she is 4 months away from her 5th birthday). I like that the top is pretty long as well, so as she grows taller it won’t be too short and become a belly shirt.
Underdoodles 3-pack Underwear Musical Instruments
My daughter LOVES music so when I saw these, I knew she had to have them (there’s a violin, grand piano, and harp print in each set of 3)! These are made with 100% GOTS organic cotton, and come with a super cute zippered pouch that has 2 compartments (clean & dirty) – perfect for traveling! I got her the 5-6Y size since she will soon be 5. She wears pretty much her exact size (so currently wearing mostly 4T and some 5T clothes). They are a bit big on her, there’s some bagginess to them, but she still loved them and said they were super comfy, so refused to take them off. Definitely err on the side of choosing a smaller size for these – of course our kids will grow into them eventually so it’s not a huge problem that they’re big right now. I need to do a little plug for Cher from Underables – because when I told her that the panties were a bit baggy, she immediately sent me the same set in the smaller size (3-4Y) to see if they were a better fit for my daughter. (Is that awesome and amazing customer service or what??) They are a perfect fit and my daughter is so excited that she can wear these for years to come!
ALAS Koh-i-noor PJ Leggings and Tee
ALAS (All Light, All Shadow) is an organic sleep and loungewear label based out of Sydney, Australia. These leggings are 100% GOTS certified organic cotton jersey, and printed and dyed using AZO and formaldehyde free inks. The leggings were the first thing on Underables that I knew I really wanted (and I put them in my Mother’s Day wishlist post). When I put them on, they were even more magical than I expected. They are the most comfortable PJs that I have EVER WORN. I’m serious! I NEVER WANT TO TAKE THEM OFF! The Tee is slightly thicker fabric than the leggings, but just as comfy. After wearing them for a few days, I decided to go order another pair of leggings for myself because I never want to be without it when it has to go in the laundry. (Another plug for customer service here – Cher was putting on a special to get the tee free with the purchase of the leggings – WHICH IS ON NOW!!!, and even though the sale hadn’t started yet, she still sent me the free tee when I ordered another set of leggings. So awesome!) I also ordered some to give as a gift because I want to share the love of how wonderful these are. Cher tells me that she’s going to be carrying more leggings from ALAS that have some elastane in them so really I could wear them ALL DAY LONG. I can’t wait!
Pants to Poverty Green Planet Panty
Pants to Poverty panties are made from 95% fairtrade and organic cotton and 5% elastane. I loved how they came packaged in a recycled cotton booklet (made from the fabric off cuts on the factory floor) – how cool is that? I’m going to be honest here. Finding panties that fit after having a baby has been an ongoing struggle for me. Pretty much every pair I own has some issue with not fitting quite right. Also I’ve been wanting to get panties made from organic cotton because of the whole issue around pesticides and delicate areas being more susceptible to absorbing stuff. These panties meet every criteria for me. The fit is so comfortable and there is no rolling down issue like I have with many others after pregnancy. I loved them so much that I went and ordered more the week after I received them – no joke.
I think it’s pretty clear that my Underables review prompted me to go and place an order – and that I’m really impressed with the quality and sustainability of what Cher is offering, AND her amazing customer service. I will certainly be making more purchases from there and encourage you to do the same if you are in the market for some awesome sustainable and ethical clothing and underwear!
What are you coveting from Underables?
