REVIEW: Life Without Plastic airtight glass container

When I found Life Without Plastic I was so excited - a Canadian company with alternatives to plastic for virtually everything in your home! Even BPA-free plastic can still leach harmful toxins into your food (check out my post on Plastic Codes Decoded), so I have been transitioning to all glass and stainless steel containers.

I happened to come across My Plastic-Free Life and was thinking about how to reduce using Ziploc bags to freeze food. Enter the airtight glass containers with stainless steel lids!

The lovely folks at Life Without Plastic graciously sent me this small round airtight glass container with a stainless steel lid to try out. It has a silicone seal so all you have to do is press down the button in the middle of the lid to make the airtight seal. Easy! To open, you just pull up on the button to release the seal.

I used the container to store some Strawberry Chia Jam I made, in the fridge as well as the freezer. No cracks or leaks. The seal is definitely airtight. I have noticed that if you pull on the edge of the lid really hard, you can break the seal that way as well, so you may want to be careful if you are putting the container in a lunchbag with other items that may do that (e.g. cutlery). I took the container to work in my lunchbag, with jam, refrigerator oatmeal, and yogurt, with no issues. It's also a great size for snacks like raspberries for my daughter. I could see this container being great for packing soups and dips in your lunch or in the freezer as well. This container is a definite love for me!
