Rocky Mountain Soap Company at Southgate: a truly Toxin-FREE store

Since I discovered a few Rocky Mountain Soap Company products several years ago, I’ve been really impressed with the company’s commitment to toxin-free body care. Awhile back they started to be even more stringent with their ingredients lists, and are now starting to apply their eco-conscious, toxin-free philosophy to their physical retail stores. I got to hear from co-owner Karina Birch herself about how they created the redone Southgate Centre location with all reused, reclaimed, recyclable and compostable materials, all down to the adhesives and signage.

I love this chandelier made with repurposed glass bottles that hangs over the cash register!

There are little signs around the store explaining about the source of materials.

“The stains and paints we used in this store contain no VOCs.”

“All shelving is made out of reclaimed barn-wood and old cedar decking.”

“All the signage was made from reclaimed cedar or bamboo.”

“This tile backsplash is made from recycled glass.”

Even the shopping baskets are wicker and fabric – no plastic baskets here!

I love that you can see the big slabs of soaps stored underneath.
