Rocky Mountain Soap Company at WEM: Totally Toxin Free

I was at the newly remodeled Rocky Mountain Soap Company store at Southgate Centre not so long ago – and was excited to hear at the time that the plan was to redo ALL of the stores to follow the same toxin-free specifications. The plan is coming to fruition, and I was able to check out the new West Edmonton Mall location a few weeks ago. Wow! It is GORGEOUS! and totally TOXIN FREE!

Karina Birch, owner and founder of Rocky Mountain Soap Company, talked about the fact that “natural” wasn’t as trendy 15 years ago when they started. It IS starting to come to the forefront now, which is exciting for the Toxin Free Movement. The reason they decided to start rebuilding their stores is because they wanted their shopping environments to match the quality of their natural products. Just as they have a “red list” for their skincare product ingredients, they developed a “red list” for what they would not tolerate in the building of their store environments.

It took almost 3 years to rebuild the first store in Canmore. The West Edmonton Mall location is the 5th store that has been rebuilt. It really encompasses Rocky’s vision for sustainability with a very clean aesthetic. It features the original floor, marble counters taken from the old TD bank building in Toronto, log stools repurposed from old telephone poles, reclaimed wood for walls, and living plants in the walls.

There are also some beautiful gift sets perfect for Christmas gift-giving – including new scents like Vanilla Ginger (think gingerbread baking in the house – yum!) and classic seasonal scents like Vanilla Candy Cane (my all-time favourite!). And some cool soap collections (I got the Christmas one) so you can give 6 different soaps to try!

(Disclosure: I received an invitation to attend a media event at the Rocky Mountain Soap Company location at West Edmonton Mall, along with a free gift. No other compensation was received. All opinions expressed are my own.)
